Experimenting with Dry Ice

Today we learnt that dry ice sublimates which means that it moves directly from solid form to gas. We experimented with it to see what happens when water is added.
First we blew up a balloon.... then watched it pop.

Then we added some dry ice to a beaker with some water in it.... and repeated that experiment using green food colouring.

Next, we tried dish washing liquid... and watched it bubble.

Finally, we took an empty coffee tin, added some water, placed our left over dry ice inside and quickly put the lid on. First it hissed, then the lid popped off!

Science is so much fun!
