We are off to the University of Western Sydney Planetarium TOMORROW!

We are of to gaze at the stars and planets tomorrow afternoon and we have a very excited group of children who cannot wait! I'm not quite sure what they are most excited about. I think stopping at McDonald's for dinner, star and planet gazing and staying up later than usual are all tied at first place!

Here is what you need to know:
1. We are departing at 4.30pm so we will need to meet at the basketball courts by 4.15pm.  This will give us time to mark the roll and get ourselves organised.
2. Children in 3C and 2/3S do not need to bring anything with them.
3. It will get chilly later in the evening so a warm jacket is highly recommended.
4. Children have been asked to wear casual clothing, ie, jeans, a long sleeved top and enclosed shoes.
5. We will leave Penrith at 8.30pm and are due back at the College at 9.30pm. Please come and see me before you take your child home.

We are going to have a wonderful time. Please don't forget to pray for clear skies so that we can see as much as possible!.

The Relationship Between the Earth and the Sun

Today in Science we started our unit called Spinning in Space. We started our investigation of the relationship between the sun and the the Earth. Today students started to plan how they would make a model which shows this very relationship. The drew diagrams, listed the materials they would need and wrote the steps they would take to make their model. We will be doing this together next Thursday in our lesson time. The children have been asked to bring the materials they plan to use to school with them on Thursday. I will put a reminder of this in the Homework sheet on Monday. I have also added the clips we watched in class today (under the Learning Links tab) in case you would like to have a conversation with your child about what they have learnt.

Analysing Dreamtime Stories

This term we have started a unit on stories from other contexts. This has lead us into a series on Dreamtime stories. We have come to realise that Dreamtime stories contain "rules for living". We have become quite proficient at analysing stories and identifying the rules for living. Today we read the story, 'The Frog who Caused a Flood'. Here are some of the "rules for living that we found.
