Our Budding Picassoes
This term in Art we studied Pablo Picasso and is cubist style of creating artworks. We recreated a few of his famous works, persisting until we created pieces we felt proud of.
First we experimented with self portraits.
Next, we learnt how to draw a guitar, then present them in the cubist style. Can you see our guitars?
We were challenged in making collages and hiding The Three Musicians amongst the the colour and we finished with our version of The Rooster.

Experimenting with Dry Ice
Today we learnt that dry ice sublimates which means that it moves directly from solid form to gas. We experimented with it to see what happens when water is added.
First we blew up a balloon.... then watched it pop.
Then we added some dry ice to a beaker with some water in it.... and repeated that experiment using green food colouring.
Next, we tried dish washing liquid... and watched it bubble.

Finally, we took an empty coffee tin, added some water, placed our left over dry ice inside and quickly put the lid on. First it hissed, then the lid popped off!
Science is so much fun!

Excursion Fun
Our excursion to the Royal Botanical Gardens, Mount Annan was one of our many highlights this term. We walked to the top of Mount Annan and were thrilled when we could see the city:
Then we walked over and checked the time using the sun dial
On our way over to the picnic area for lunch we enjoyed the view and observed some of the native flora and fauna
After lunch we visited the Stolen Generation Memorial
It was a great day to be enjoying the outdoors and each other's company

Our Book Parade
We had so much fun dressing up as our favourite book characters at today's Book Character Parade!
All of the costumes were amazing! Congratulations to our winners: Zara, Phoebe and Carter
Thank you to the parents who joined us. Special thanks to those who dressed up.
We read a book about a quilt which made with small pieces of colourful fabric. The pieces were sewn together by convict women on board a ship bound for Van Diemen's Land.
Then we made a quilt of our own.
