We are off to the University of Western Sydney Planetarium TOMORROW!

We are of to gaze at the stars and planets tomorrow afternoon and we have a very excited group of children who cannot wait! I'm not quite sure what they are most excited about. I think stopping at McDonald's for dinner, star and planet gazing and staying up later than usual are all tied at first place!

Here is what you need to know:
1. We are departing at 4.30pm so we will need to meet at the basketball courts by 4.15pm.  This will give us time to mark the roll and get ourselves organised.
2. Children in 3C and 2/3S do not need to bring anything with them.
3. It will get chilly later in the evening so a warm jacket is highly recommended.
4. Children have been asked to wear casual clothing, ie, jeans, a long sleeved top and enclosed shoes.
5. We will leave Penrith at 8.30pm and are due back at the College at 9.30pm. Please come and see me before you take your child home.

We are going to have a wonderful time. Please don't forget to pray for clear skies so that we can see as much as possible!.

  1. What a fantastic night at the Planetarium! Big huge massive thank you to Mrs Camilleri, Miss Everett and Mrs Shabaya for giving up their Friday night to take the children on this excursion. Apparently that McDonalds employees may all put in a claim for Industrial Deafness though! lol Angus has not stopped talking about how fantastic an excursion it was and how cool it was looking through the "huge massive telescope" and the 3D movie that made him "try and reach out and touch things because it was so so so real". It is so great to see the kids engaged and excited about this unit of study and I am now having to Google questions that I don't know the answer to about space and planets!! Again, big thank you to all involved for organising this excursion, it certainly was a hit and I think all the kids had an exciting and great time! Surprisingly, there has hardly been a mention about the McDonalds dinner too, which is usually the hero of the story!! lol

  2. Thank you for the feedback Jody! I am so pleased that Angus had a good time. It really was exciting to be able to see Jupiter, Saturn and the moon through the telescopes. I hope the experience made space a little more real for all our students.
